Ivan Bernal is an architectural designer and educator. He holds a Master’s Degree from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) where he graduated with honors, and was awarded Best Thesis for his research between primitive shapes and familiarity. In 2011 He was selected to be part of the Wallpaper Magazine Graduate Directory.
Formerly a full time faculty at SCI-Arc, Ivan has also taught seminars and lectured in a variety of schools including Harvard GSD, Yale SOA, Knowlton School of Architecture at OSU,and IAAC in Barcelona, among others.
Ivan has worked in studios in South America, Miami and Los Angeles, and in 2012 he became the Lead Designer for Xefirotarch. Ivan’s work has been exhibited in galleries around the world and deals with issues of familiarity seen through the lense of unconventional tools of representation.
He is currently an Assistant Professor at Syracuse School of Architecture.
